Jiu-Jitsu Gifts: 20+ Gifts for Someone Who Loves Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi’s
The most important piece of equipment a Jiu-Jitsu athlete will need is the traditional kimono called a Gi. Uniforms vary in size and weight but overall, many BJJ Kimonos are very similar to one another. Jiu-jitsu Gi’s are excellent gifts for someone who trains BJJ during the holiday season. Typically we have a rotation of two Kimonos so we always have one that is clean to train with during the week but the more options we have the better!
Single-Weave and Double-Weave?:
When looking to buy a new Gi for a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, it is important to understand the difference between single, and double weave Kimonos. A single-weave Gi consists of one layer of cotton thread while a double-weave consists of two. Single-weave Gi’s are used around the world by many who like a lighter, more comfortable Kimono. On the contrary, double-weave Gi’s are made of two layers of cotton making the uniform bulkier, tougher, and more difficult to grip.
Although both types of sportswear have their pros and cons, the choice of which to wear is up to the personal preference of the Jiu-Jitsu athlete. If you have no idea what the BJJ athlete in your life likes to wear, it is best to ease on the side of caution and get a single-weave Kimono. They are typically cheaper and more common than their heavy counterpart. The lightweight build is more breathable and makes it easier to make weight at a BJJ comp.

If you have the space for it, consider getting them a some BJJ mats to either go in the home gym or garage. There are only really two options for mats that are worth their penny on the market and that is from Zebra Athletics or FUJI Mats.
Before purchasing you should determine your budget and how much space you want the mats to take up! Fuji measures everything in feet so take a good look at the area and make sure to measure out the space before moving forward. You can always call their direct line and speak to a representative to help you with the choice here!
We can save you a little bit of money on the purchase of your FUJI mats if you use the code ‘GRAVEYARD’ at checkout!
