Community Building with Fostering Jiu-Jitsu

building strong communities

Great things happen when a great support system surrounds you. Since starting the journey in jiu-jitsu one thing is apparent, the sport can be costly, especially if you are from a lower-income family. Fostering jiu-jitsu is an organization helping alleviate the stresses of everyday life for families and young athletes within at-risk communities.

building strong communities

For most people actively practicing, jiu-jitsu is a great way to release tension and get minds off of things that happen to us in the real world. When you walk through those four doors, whatever is going on outside is not better. Everyone is there to learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves!

Community Building with Fostering Jiu-Jitsu

Fostering Jiu-Jitsu is a non-profit organization that helps sponsor at-risk youth from the ages of 5 – 26 to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Their focus is on foster care, group home, and low-income communities. Jiu-Jitsu to some is expensive and offering a free program has helped create many opportunities for at-risk youth. Jiu-Jitsu, if you have not discovered it by now, builds self-worth, and personal value, and is a great way to get your mind off the world around you.

Originally founded by black belt instructor Byron Graham and with the help of his wife Britt Graham, they have successfully sponsored close to 50 young warriors! Seeing the community grow through this organizational effort is heart-warming, within the four walls at any gym you truly feel like a family when you immerse yourself in the environment!

We are so happy to bring to light these two and promote their outstanding work in building strong communities through the sport of jiu-jitsu! If you are interested in sponsoring a child or contributing! All proceeds will be going back to children that need it the most!

Building a strong community starts with leaders making others feel as though they are part of a larger family, in jiu-jitsu gyms across the world, we are a family. There is no better way to develop as a person than through this sport!

Happy Rolling!
