Are you tired of the same boring routine at the gym? Working out alone is a challenge these days let alone not a super enjoyable task to partake in. Want to get into the best shape of your life and have a blast while doing so? Look no further because we have you covered! Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that has been exploding in popularity all across the United States for the past 5 years! Jiu-jitsu is for everyone of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. In this article, we talk about some of the benefits of training this martial art!
Increased Cardiovascular Health
Jiu Jitsu is excellent for those looking to get into the best shape of their life! Rolling around on the mats and getting a sweat in for one hour a day will drastically increase your cardiovascular health and physical strength! It is very common to start BJJ with bad cardio, but the more frequently you go the quicker you gain the endurance you need to stay competitive with your training partners!
You do not need to be in shape before you start doing jiu-jitsu, it will be a sport that will get you to that point! Many people that have started were not in the best shape but after starting, quickly found themselves there.
Relieving Stress
There is something about jiu-jitsu that is extremely relieving. It is a pretty aggressive sport and can be physically demanding at times, the constant stress it brings on your body oddly has the reverse effect on how we feel.
On the days that are not good or we are overwhelmed with challenges in our day-to-day life we make it a point to go to our gym and train. It has a night-and-day effect on my mood. Finding jiu-jitsu has been something that has helped our mental, physical, and emotional health. Several people use jiu-jitsu as their outlet from the outside world. In a world that offers so many negative things as outlets jiu-jitsu has been a positive outlet for many all around the world!
Confidence Booster
When you walk around knowing that you are trained in a martial art you feel extremely comfortable in your skin. It grounds you as a human. There has been nothing on the planet that has made us feel this way since we started our journey on the mats.
We live in a world that is on the brink of chaos. It feels less and less safe to walk around and just be a human these days. With a country that is continuing to find itself divided we need to be able to defend ourselves and those we love. When you train jiu-jitsu, if something bad were to break out you would be able to handle it. Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that gets you comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Almost all of the skills learned in jiu-jitsu can be applied to work or real-world situations.
Jiu Jitsu is something that takes real skill to get good at. When you learn a skill and get competent you gain confidence. Who doesn’t like feeling confident in their abilities? Jiu Jitsu will teach you how to acquire skills if you are young and will help you gain more as an adult.
Jiu Jitsu For High IQ Individuals
Intelligent people love Jiu Jitsu. The people that get addicted to the sport are likely very smart. It takes a lot of brain power to know how to react and move your body in a way that applies good pressure and takes advantage of favorable positions.
The smartest people we know both on the internet and in our personal life train Jiu-Jitsu. Some notable people who do (and the list continues to grow) are Joe Rogan, Lex Fridman, and Mark Zuckerberg. These guys are just a small handful of highly intelligent individuals who chose jiu-jitsu as their form of exercise. Chances are extremely high that most people who decide to partake in this sport have high IQs.
If you are in sales, law, or finance we almost guarantee you will enjoy jiu-jitsu JUST based on knowing the types of individuals that have these types of careers.
Gyms Near You
Over the last decade, the number of gyms across the united states has grown exponentially (thank you Joe Rogan and the UFC).
All you have to do these days is Google and call your local gym to get started. In our case, we found our gym through an Instagram Advertisement!! When you call be sure to see if they offer some free classes before you commit, the gym is clean, and the gym is beginner friendly. You do not want to go to a hyper-competitive gym where killers are training if you are a beginner you may get crushed.
If you are looking to get into the best shape of your life, alleviate stress in your life, and partake in a physical activity that stimulates your brain, Jiu-jitsu is for you! You should not sign up if you hate having fun, don’t want to dedicate yourself to learning a skill, love to make excuses, or don’t get along with other people. A lot of the lessons you will learn on the mats will translate directly into your daily life and help you change in a positive way.
Happy Rolling!
