RDX Boxing Glove Review

RDX Sports boxing glove review

Hey Everyone! We are back again with another gear review for boxing gloves. We got our hands on the RDX Sports Kara Boxing Gloves.

As always, we review with a scale that we use internally known as the Graveyard Scale (here) this is a scale that we use to help us rate the gear that we get our hands on from 1 – 10. Overall, we love RDX Sports Kara gear but think there are some better options to choose from for boxing gloves under $200. These gloves got a middle-of-the-grade rating on our end sitting at 7.6 out of 10.

We are on a mission to help people find the best boxing gloves under $200. The Sanabul essential gel boxing gloves were one of the first five items that we got to test out. Our goal is to review a list that consists of 12 more pairs that we were told to try from the Reddit community r/fightgear.

Overview of the RDX Boxing Gloves

Overall, we have given the RDX Sports Boxing Gloves a 7.6 rating on the Graveyard Scale. Considering that half the points we grade on are things like weight/feel and price the real measures here (protection and quality) only scored a combined score of 2.6 out of 5.

These are very middle-of-the-ground gloves and would recommend people increase their budget by at least $100 to get their hands on some better gloves that offer more wrist support, better protection, and a better overall experience with the product.

Pros

  • Personally, RDX Kara Gloves are some of my favorites, super nice exterior leather on the gloves

  • Cheap [only $33]

  • Decent Cushioning

Cons

  • The gloves themselves feel boxy. Not my personal favorite

  • The protection around the hands is not the best we have felt. It is a similar material to the headgear (RDX Headgear Review) and feels like soft memory foam

  • Wrist support is not as good as it should be

Quality & Feel (1.4/2)

Putting these gloves on your hands was also pretty underwhelming. With my bare hands in the gloves, I knew that I would seriously harm my knuckles with burns just because the material was more irritable than other pairs that we are comparing them to (Hayabusa T3 in particular).

The exterior leather on these gloves is awesome though, I will give them that. We are big fans of the material that they put on the outside and that is congruent across their headgear and MMA gloves.

  • The ergonomic inner pocket is designed to perfectly fit the hand.

Protection (1.2/3)

The worst protection is a huge component to us when we are looking at gloves to use more frequently in our training. I have personally broken my wrist three times in my life and do not want to train in any glove that does not offer the support to my wrists that I think they need.

The RDX Sports Kara boxing gloves did not supply the wrist support I was looking for. While the padding around the knuckles is not horrible the wrist support was minimal. The padding on the knuckles feels like the tough memory foam that comes on headgear and MMA gloves they offer.

  • Will need hand wraps to protect your knuckles if you plan on sparring or training more seriously

Price (3/3)

The price point for these gloves is low and sits at $33 on Amazon right now.

Weight (2/2)

Like many other boxing gloves out there the RDX sports gloves come in various weights ranging from 8oz to 16oz. We buy the 14 oz gloves for every pair of boxing gloves that we get to keep things equal across the board.

  • 14 oz gloves still leave me feeling athletic when I am getting rounds in on the bag

Final Rating For the RDX Sports Kara Boxing Gloves [7.6 / 10]

7.6 is a lower rating for the Graveyard Scale. If we did not consider factors on things like weight/feel and price in our ratings, this glove would only score a 2.6 out of 5. Just a little above 50% for context there.

We got some good feedback from previous reviews on gear, and some people thought we were being too generous with our ratings. We believe the rating here is reflective of the item we got our hands on and tried out.

RDX Boxing Gloves

On the Graveyard Scale, these boxing gloves scored 7.6 out of 10. This is a fair-grade item for the price paid.

Pros:
  • Personally, RDX Kara Gloves are some of my favorites, super nice exterior leather on the gloves
  • Cheap [only $33]
  • Decent Cushioning

Alternatives and Recommendations

Cost and Value

I think that the cost-to-value ratio for these gloves is right on point. These gloves are nothing special and they look a little boxy but for only $35 they are not bad. Personally, I own and love both the RDX boxing headgear and the RDX MMA gloves that come from this series, they are great products for the price point that they sit at in my opinion.

These boxing gloves are made with similar material both cushioning and leather.

Buying Guide

Buying combat sports gear is super easy. You can buy these gloves either at Amazon (if you want faster shipping) or directly from the RDX Sports website.

Conclusion

Overall, these are a middle-ground pair of combat sports gloves. Nothing special, halfway decent protection, underwhelming comfort on the inside of the glove, but very affordable.

The updated list of Best Boxing Gloves Under $200 will showcase new pairs as we get around to updates.
