Sometimes you hit the sweet spot for price and quality and I think we may have found the one for you guys here with the RDX Sports Kara Boxing Headgear. This boxing headgear is the second of 4 items that we bought on our quest to give you the best reviews possible to make informed decisions on your combat sports equipment. We spend the money and test things out for you so you don’t have to!
On the Graveyard Scale, RDX Kara Boxing Headgear is being given a 9 out of 10. I have come to find out that Hayabusa and RDX Sports have my heart when it comes to gear lately. RDX Sports boxing headgear is incredibly comfortable, sleek, soft like memory foam, and protective (for the most part). RDX Sports probably has the largest selection of Boxing Headgear to choose from compared to all the options on our ‘Best Boxing Headgear’ list.
As always there will be a video review towards the end so if you are visually inclined please be sure to scroll through!
RDX Headgear: Best Quality Boxing Headgear
Much like the Kara MMA gloves from RDX Sports, the Kara RDX Boxing Headgear has this incredible feel both inside and on the outside of the equipment. I think it is one of my favorite parts of this gear in all honesty. There are some points I do feel not as happy about compared to other headguards I have tried to this point but overall I think this is a great purchase for those not looking to spend a huge buck on gear.
Right now, you can get one of the best quality boxing headgear for only $54.99. While I generally do not think it is the best idea to go cheap on something like headgear, this product is both protective and cost-effective. So really it is a win-win!
Protection (6.2/7)
It should be noted right off the bat that this boxing headgear does not have a nose or chin bar. If you are concerned about getting hit in the nose or the chin while training we suggest going through the many options available with RDX Sports. The foam around this Kara boxing headgear feels just like the from on the RDX Sports MMA Sparring gloves, it is soft like a Tempurpedic pillow but still firm enough to keep your brain from jiggling after a tough hit.
The inside of this headgear is also extremely soft and nice on the skin. The one concern I had was around the ears but it may not actually even be a big deal. The protection around the ear seems a bit thin and not as protective as some of the other headgear that is out there but that may end up being a personal preference for anyone on why they would/wouldn’t go on this.
The fact of the matter is that this boxing headgear from RDX Sports is probably my favorite and the best one that we own. Whether you are a beginner or complete expert training for a world championship fight, you should own this. It’s like having the comfiest pillow wrapping snuggly around your face.
Quality/Feel (2.8/3)
Okay, when I was wearing this thing I kid you not I did not want to take it off. It is so comfortable and fits really nicely to my head. The one complaint I have about the feel of this is the chin strap. Again the velcro under the chin creates a not-so-fun environment for sweat and movement. Just like the Hayabusa Boxing Headgear I reviewed, this strap is made with leather so it is a bit more bearable but something to definitely be aware of.
Price and Personal Preference
Personally, I love this headgear both in price and feel. This is the headgear I would tell someone to buy if they were a newbie who wanted to get started training. Great quality product, top-of-class protection, and only $55? Take my money now.
