Hey Everyone! We are back again with another gear review for boxing gloves. After combing through user feedback across various subreddits and exploring the many Fairtex options on the market, we decided to try the BGV16 Fairtex boxing gloves. Normally, we look for standout recommendations from the community before we settle on a specific pair, and in this case, the BGV16s came highly suggested—so we couldn’t wait to put them to the test.
As always, we review with a scale that we use internally known as the Graveyard Scale (here). This is a scale that we use to help us rate the gear that we get our hands on from 1 to 10. Overall, the quality of these gloves is outstanding. I’m especially impressed with the range of available colorways—visually, they’re among my favorites in our entire collection.
On the Graveyard Scale, these gloves scored an 8.8 out of 10, tying them for second place on our list of the best boxing gloves under $200. Impressively, they earned the same score as the Top King gloves (review) that we recently reviewed for nearly the same reasons: while they excel in most areas, they lack the wrist support needed to surpass our top pick—the Hayabusa T3s (review).
Just like the Top King gloves, these really stand out in their knuckle area support, cushioning, and overall look and feel.
In this review, we’ll break down each of these elements in detail and explain exactly why these gloves earned an 8.8 on the Graveyard Scale, tying them for second place. That said, they still fell just shy of our top-rated Hayabusa T3s, primarily due to less wrist support. One small hiccup: the 12 oz size we wanted wasn’t available in our preferred colorway, so we ended up testing the 10 oz version instead.
Reminder: We have been on a mission to help people find the best boxing gloves under $200. Our goal is to review a list of 12 more pairs that we were told to try from the Reddit community r/fightgear.
Overview of the Fairtex BGV16 Boxing Gloves
I was immediately impressed by the BGV16 Fairtex gloves; they have an outstanding, incredible-to-the-eye range of colorways to choose from. Originally, I wanted the orange pair but they did not have that in the size I needed (same with the beige).
These gloves are hands-down among my best-looking gloves and offer great knuckle protection, cushioning, and an overall feel that competes with the best on our Best Boxing Glove list. My only real concern is their slightly weaker wrist support, which keeps them just below my top-rated Hayabusa T3s.
They still earned a solid 8.8 on the Graveyard Scale, tying them with the Top King gloves for second place in the sub-$ 200 category. Considering Fairtex’s reputation, I can confidently recommend the BGV16s to anyone seeking durable, high-quality boxing gloves.
This should be noted: If we had to choose between these or the Top King boxing gloves, we would go with Fairtex BGV16. I think these gloves have a slight edge over Top King, even though they scored the same on our scale.

Quality & Feel (1.6/2)
The first thing you will notice about the Fairtex BGV16 boxing gloves is the attention to detail and quality of the leather. Much like the Top King gloves, I was seriously impressed with how well-crafted they felt. When you put your hands inside the glove, you will also notice that they are snug with little wiggle room.
One frustrating aspect of buying these gloves was that the specific size and weight I wanted weren’t readily available in my preferred colorway on Amazon. However, because Amazon’s price was slightly cheaper than ordering directly from the manufacturer—and thanks to the convenience of one-day shipping—I decided to settle for a 10oz glove in a less desired colorway to save both time and money.
-
Genuine leather and have a really good feel to them
-
Stitching is really good on these gloves
-
Interior is comfortable and breathable
Protection (2.2/3)
As you all may know, I have a love for the Hayabusa T3 gloves the MOST because of the dual wrist support that comes with them. Any glove that I review that does not have this will get a ding on their score because of it. That is just the hill I am willing to stand on.
When I mention this on Reddit, people often tell me most gloves under $200 are going to only have a single strap, in this case, these Fairtex boxing gloves fell into this category. I think the cushioning is nice and overall the protection is good but it does not have the dual wrist wraps that I personally need and like.
If you are not in the same situation as me and are fine wrapping your hands and having that be the wrist support you need, then I believe the Fairtex BGV16 and Top King gloves are exceptional alternatives to the Hayabusa t3.
-
Great knuckle padding
-
Single-wrap wrist support
Price
In general, I believe the quality material and product that you get out from Fairtex gear are well worth the price. If you had a budget that sat right around $100, I would easily say to go with Fairtex or Top Kings boxing gloves at the desired weight you want them at. At the end of the day, these are pretty affordable and will last a good amount of time.
Fairtex has a good reputation for producing high-quality gear and it shows in these gloves.
-
$100 price point so pretty affordable for those that want to take training more seriously
Weight
Personally, I found it annoying that there were not 12 oz gloves in the colorway that we originally wanted available on Amazon. The listing on Amazon is a bit cheaper (and would get to my home faster) than if you bought from the website directly.
Typically, they have all weight options available for purchase. So, if you are looking for gloves to hit heavy bags, sparring gloves, or competition gloves, Fairtex has something for you.
-
Many weight options to choose from
-
Annoyed that I could not get the pair I originally wanted in the weight I wanted without paying more on their website
Final Rating For the Fairtex BGV16 Boxing Gloves (8.8/10)
Although they’re tied for second on the Graveyard Scale, these gloves are still a top contender for anyone looking to invest in new boxing gear. Their durable construction and Fairtex’s trusted reputation in the boxing community make them a solid choice.
We’d happily recommend these to anyone seeking high-performance gloves. And yes, we would take these over the Top King boxing gloves.
The only qualm we have is the fact that buying them in the color you want and the weight you want on Amazon is a pain. The pricing is different when you buy directly through their site, and I am not sure how reliable purchases are through there since I bought mine from Amazon.

Cost and Value
These gloves offer great value for the price point that they are sitting at. The thing that can be most annoying is that they seem to run out of desired weights on Amazon pretty often.
