Venum x Assassin’s Creed Shadows BJJ Gi Review

Venum x Assassin's Creed Shadows BJJ Gi Review

Hey Everyone! We are back again with another gear review this time we got our hands on some BJJ Gi’s. This last week, I was able to get my hands on the Assassin’s Creed Shadows, white and red, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gi. Overall, I really have nothing bad to say about this gi, and I’m excited to jump into the review.

As always, we review with a scale that we use internally known as the Graveyard Scale (here) this is a scale that we use to help us rate the gear that we get our hands on from 1 – 10. For BJJ Gis, our main review criteria are: Fit & Comfort, Mobility & Weight, Shrinkage & Maintenance, Durability & Construction, and Price/Value.

After testing this limited edition gi for over a week, I can confidently say it’s worth the price. While I usually prefer black gis for their look, this white one performed flawlessly — comfortable, durable, and well-made.

If you’re new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or just looking to add something special to your rotation, this is an easy recommendation.

Reminder: We are on a mission to help people find the best combat sports gear across categories. Our goal is to review a list that consists of 8 to 12 more Gis and share our thoughts to the following Reddit communities r/fightgear, r/grapplersgraveyard, r/bjj and r/jiujitsu.

Venum x Assassin's Creed Shadows BJJ Gi Review

Overview of the Venum x Assassin’s Creed Shadows BJJ Gi

I think this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gi is awesome. I get a ton of compliments on how it looks, and I honestly have no real complaints about comfort. For around $120–$129, it’s a great value — you’re getting a premium feel without the premium price tag.

Some of the best gis I’ve trained in, including lightweight and competition models, cost a lot more than this one. My top-rated Gold BJJ gi is in a similar price range, and while that one stands out for being more lightweight, this gi easily takes the edge in style. It just looks clean — and people notice.

Pros

  • GREAT pricing for the product you get
  • Gets a ton of compliments on the stylish aspect of it (Assassins Creed is awesome too)
  • Pretty comfortable
  • Does not shrink and can be used in comp (Pearl Weave 385 gsm cotton)

Cons

  • Not the biggest fan of white gi’s (personal preference)
  • Kinda leans towards looking like a karate kimono with the red and white

Fit & Comfort (1.75/2)

Does the gi fit true to size?

Yes, it fits true to size. I’m 5’9” and around 175 lbs, and the A2 fit me perfectly. Normally, I wear an A1L in other brands, but I’d recommend sizing up if you’re between sizes. For example, if you’re usually an A1L, go with an A2 here. The cut feels athletic but not tight — it strikes a good balance.

Is it comfortable for long rolling sessions?

I’d say it’s decently comfortable. The material isn’t the softest I’ve ever worn, but it’s not rough or heavy either — solid middle ground. I had no issues rolling for longer sessions, and it didn’t get itchy or overly hot. It’s a dependable everyday gi in terms of comfort.

How does the collar feel (soft, stiff, thick)?

The collar started out a bit stiff, but after a few washes and training rounds, it softened up nicely. It’s on the thicker side, which gives it a sturdy feel, but it doesn’t dig into your neck or feel uncomfortable once broken in.

  • Fits true to size and will not shrink on you (comes pre shrunk)
  • Feels pretty comfortable and can be used both for training and comps (385 gsm)

Comfort

When it comes to comfort, I’d rate this gi as comfortably above average. The standout feature for me is the pants they’re loose, breathable, and move naturally during training. The drawstring is made from high-quality material and holds securely, even through long sessions.

As someone with thicker legs from consistent lifting, I really appreciate the extra room in the thigh and groin area. Many gis tend to tighten up when rolling or kicking, but this one stayed in place without restricting mobility.

The jacket and pants both remained stable during movement, and the overall feel stayed comfortable even through extended training sessions. It’s easily one of the more functional and comfortable gis in my current rotation.

  • Draw strings on these pants are very nice and unique
  • The pants they’re loose, breathable, and move naturally during training

Mobility & Weight (1.5/2)

In terms of mobility and weight, this gi comes in at 385 GSM, which is slightly heavier than what I normally prefer. I usually train in lightweight gis, and since 380 GSM is the IBJJF minimum for competition, this one sits just above that mark. Despite the extra weight, it doesn’t feel restrictive — the pants, in particular, are comfortable and surprisingly airy. You can definitely feel the difference compared to something like the Gold BJJ AeroWeave (275 GSM), but it’s not enough to impact performance. Overall, it strikes a nice balance between durability and comfort.

  • Heavier gi than what I normally train in (385 gsm versus a 275 gsm lightweight gi (Gold BJJ))
  • No real mobility challenges arises while rolling in this

Shrinkage & Maintenance (2/2)

After multiple washes, I noticed zero shrinkage — even after the first wash, which is usually when you see it most. I always wash my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gis in cold water and let them air dry, never in the dryer, and this one held its shape perfectly. It’s super easy to maintain: just wash it after training in cold water, hang it up, and it’s ready to go the next day. The fit has stayed consistent every single time.

Durability & Construction (2/2)

The stitching feels really solid — reinforced in all the right areas and built to last. The collar is strong and holds up well over time without fraying or softening too much. None of the patches or logos have peeled or frayed after several washes; everything still looks clean and intact.

Price & Value (2/2)

I’d say this gi is definitely worth it for the price. At around $120, you’re getting something that easily competes with gis in the $150+ range. It’s durable enough for consistent training but stylish enough to wear confidently at competitions. I’ve trained in a lot of gis across both categories, and this one sits right in that sweet spot — not overly flashy, not cheap-feeling, just solid all-around quality. For the money, it’s hard to go wrong with this one.

Final Rating For the Venum Assassins Creed Gi BJJ Gi ( 9.25 / 10 )

The Venum Assassin’s Creed BJJ Gi earns a strong 9.25/10 — and for good reason.

It’s currently ranked fourth on our list of top-rated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gis, sitting just behind Future Kimonos, Origin, and Gold BJJ — all elite competitors in the space. That’s impressive company, especially considering Future Kimonos isn’t even available for purchase anymore.

For around $120, you’re getting a stylish, high-quality gi that performs well in training and turns heads on the mats. If you’re looking for a gi that blends value, comfort, and design, this one’s an easy recommendation.
