Top King Boxing Gloves Review

top king boxing glove review

Hey Everyone! We are back again with another gear review for boxing gloves. This time, we got our hands on some authentic Thailand boxing gloves! We were stoked about getting these because a handful of MMA buddies loved this product! In this review, we will be diving into the Top King [12 oz] Muay Thai boxing gloves.

As always, we review with a scale that we use internally known as the Graveyard Scale (here). This is a scale that we use to help us rate the gear that we get our hands on from 1 – 10.

After thorough testing, Top King’s gloves fell just below the #1 spot—just getting beat out by Hayabusa [review]—with a score of 8.8 out of 10.

Why are they ranked #2?

  • Quality & Price: Top King’s gloves offer excellent craftsmanship for $50 less than Hayabusa’s.

  • Knuckle Protection: The standout feature is the padding around the knuckles, which feels both secure and comfortable.

  • Wrist Support: Hayabusa does have reinforced straps that provide better wrist protection, but overall, Top King’s balance of price, quality, and protection makes them hard to beat.

If you’re looking for gloves that emphasize knuckle protection and don’t break the bank, Top King is an outstanding choice.

Reminder: We have been on a mission to help people find the best boxing gloves under $200. Our goal is to review a list that consists of 12 more pairs that we were told to try from the Reddit community r/fightgear.

Overview of the Top King Boxing Gloves

We were excited to get our hands on these gloves after hearing great things from our Muay Thai friends. Personally, I switch between Muay Thai gloves and boxing gloves all the time, and I’m already planning to make Top King my main pair.

Naturally, leather gloves will show wear over time, so I’ll likely need to replace them eventually. Compared to my Hayabusa gloves, the outer material on the Top King is pretty different. However, the padding is where Top King shines—it provides a good change and makes these gloves feel both comfortable and durable.

Video Review: [coming soon]

Pros

  • $50 less than the price of Hayabusa gloves [Hayabusa T3: $159]

  • High-quality leather

  • Sewn-in wrist wraps for better support

  • Top-tier knuckle padding for enhanced protection

Cons

  • Lacks double-layered wrist support compared to Hayabusa

  • Interior comfort could be improved (though not a major drawback)

  • Outer leather may wear or tear with excessive training

Graveyard Scale Score: 8.8

If you’re looking for gloves that emphasize knuckle protection and don’t break the bank, Top King is an outstanding choice. The big standout for me was the comfort around the knuckles and the quality of the glove overall. If there was any area of improvement for me, I would say enhancing the wrist support. For $100, this is a great pair to have in your collection.

Quality & Feel (1.7/2)

My first impression is that these gloves were built with quality in mind. They feel great on my hands, although I did notice they run a bit roomy around the lower part, likely due to my smaller hand size. This makes wearing hand wraps advisable—unlike my experience with Hayabusa gloves, I find myself wrapping up more often with these.

While the interior could be more comfortable, it’s still a solid addition to our Grapplers Graveyard lineup. Overall, these gloves are a great choice if you’re looking for high-quality construction and reliable performance.

  • Quality Leather

  • Great Knuckle Padding [honestly the best we have tried so far; I like this more than Hayabusa’s]

  • A reliable and solid pair of gloves that I enjoy thus far

Protection (2.1/3)

Knuckle protection is the standout feature here, and I actually prefer it over my Hayabusa gloves. However, the biggest drawback is the wrist support. These gloves don’t have the double-layered wrist wraps found on Hayabusa, which compromises wrist stability. Although wrapping your hands can help, the lack of reinforced wrist support remains a key reason why I kept Hayabusa in the top spot.

  • It provides great protection on the knuckles!

  • The lack of wrist support puts it in this category.

Price

These gloves are set at a price of $100. For the value you get out of these gloves, I think these are a great option to have if you are looking to spend under $200 on boxing gloves. We would go as far as saying that Fiartex, Venum, and Top King all are tied for the best boxing gloves at or below $100.

Weight Options

Top King, like many other boxing gloves, had available options ready to be purchased from 10 oz all the way up to 16 oz. Depending on how you plan on using the gloves [whether for sparring, bag work, etc.] we suggest going with a 12 oz or a 14oz pair because those weights end up being the most versatile.

Final Rating For the Top King Boxing Gloves (8.8/10)

Alternatives and Recommendations

Right now, these are the #2 rated boxing gloves by Grapplers Graveyard under $200.

  • Hayabusa T3 Boxing Gloves [review] – 9.0 out of 10

  • Fairtex BVG16 Leather Boxing Gloves [review] – 8.8 out of 10

Cost and Value

I find the cost-to-value ratio of these gloves extremely compelling. Priced at around $100, they offer remarkable quality, comfort, and durability—far exceeding expectations for this price range. For anyone seeking a high-performing glove without breaking the bank, these are well worth the investment.

Buying Guide

You can easily purchase these gloves both on Top King’s website or on Amazon. I bought mine on Amazon because this was a new brand for me. I didn’t trust the website all too much because of what I was reading online about there being a fraudulent URL selling their gear [reddit post], so it was easier to buy on Amazon.

Also, Top King’s website is not the most organized website I have seen so just buy them on Amazon.

Conclusion

Overall, I really liked these boxing gloves from Top King. The big standout for me was the comfort around the knuckles and the quality of the glove overall. If there was any area of improvement for me, I would say enhancing the wrist support. For $100, this is a great pair to have in your collection. If budget is not an issue, I think you can’t go wrong with either Top King or Hayabusa.
