Hey Everyone! We are back again with another gear review. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the rashguards from Trap X Jitsu.
Unlike heavier gear categories where we use the full Graveyard Scale (1–10), rash guards and shorts are evaluated with our Simple Verdict System. These items usually have subtle differences that don’t justify hard numerical scoring, so this framework keeps reviews easy to read and more helpful for everyday athletes.
Reminder: We are on a mission to help people find the best combat sports gear across categories. We share a lot of our thoughts on gear in the following Reddit communities r/fightgear, r/grapplersgraveyard, r/bjj and r/jiujitsu so be sure to be a part of those communities.

Overview of BJJ Rashguards from Trap X Jitsu
Trap X Jitsu surprised me with how well their rash guard performs across the board. From the moment I put it on, it felt comfortable, breathable, and genuinely well-made.
The material blend feels premium, the stitching is sturdy, and the heat management is noticeably better than a lot of big-name brands I’ve worn over the years.
What really sets Trap X Jitsu apart is the design. Their gear has personality and intention behind it which is an awesome thing to see. Yes, it’s priced higher than some competitors, but between the comfort, durability, and standout aesthetics, it genuinely feels worth it. This rash guard and shorts combo will be in my rotation for a long time and do plan on buying more gear from them!

Pros
- Awesome Design choices and cool themes
- Did not capture too much sweat and felt very comfortable
- The material blend is awesome and feels really good to wear
- Got a good handful of compliments on the rash guard I went with (this one)
Cons
- More pricey than other brand choices
Suggestion:
- I wish they had a mesh-like breathable material on the underarm area like some of the Gold BJJ rash guards we had. We love this touch and think its great for cooling and breathability.
Category Breakdown
Fit & Comfort
I was honestly surprised by how good this rash guard felt once I started training in it. Whether I was drilling, rolling, or doing longer sessions, it sat on the body really naturally without that “overheating” feeling some rash guards give you under the gi. Most of my training lately has been gi-focused, so having a rash guard that doesn’t feel suffocating underneath all that fabric is a big win.
The material blend is smooth, comfortable, and has that sleek feel that makes you forget you’re even wearing it. It hugs the body well without being too tight, and the mobility is exactly what you want. Out of all the rash guards I’ve trained in, this one definitely lands in the “super comfortable” category right there with the Gold BJJ Rash Guard.
- Extremely comfortable and breathable
- Smooth, sleek material that moves naturally with the body
Performance (Sweat Management or Mobility)
When it comes to performance, this rash guard does exactly what you want it to. It stays breathable during intense training, manages heat surprisingly well, and never feels like it’s trapping sweat or overheating your body.
Durability & Materials
Based on how this rash guard is built, I’m confident it’s going to last a long time. I’ve got a huge rotation of rash guards at this point, and plenty of them, even from big-name brands like Future Kimonos, have started to fall apart after enough training and washes.
This one feels different. The stitching is tight and clean, the seams feel reinforced, and the overall construction actually exceeds a lot of the rash guards I’ve put through heavy training. Of course, every piece of gear will show some natural wear over the years, but nothing about this one gives me concern. If anything, it feels like the kind of rash guard that’s going to stay in the lineup for a long while without breaking down prematurely.
Design & Value
Where this rash guard, and Trap X Jitsu as a whole, really separates itself is in the design department. So many rash guards on the market feel tacky, bland, or just copy-pastas. They don’t have personality. Trap X Jitsu is the opposite. Every piece they release feels intentional, themed, and clearly tied to the founder’s creative vision. You can tell they actually care about aesthetics, branding, and creating gear that makes a statement on the mats.
Their designs stand out in the best way possible, and that alone puts them ahead of a lot of bigger brands. Yes, the price point is a little higher but honestly, you’re paying for better design, better feel, and a product that seems built to last.
I never feel like I’m wasting money with gear that has these characteristics.
