Main Event: Brendan Allen Submits Christian Leroy Duncan

Allen’s Wrestling Wins the War

The game plan was never a secret: Allen was going to wrestle, Duncan was going to try to keep it standing, and somebody was going to get tired first.

Duncan refused to fold for four and a half rounds. In the fifth, he came out energized, throwing combinations, and for about 90 seconds it looked like the underdog might steal it.

Then Allen did Allen things: closed the distance, took the back, and slipped the rear-naked choke under the chin. Duncan fought the hands for a second, then tapped.

Four straight wins for Allen (28-7, 16-4 UFC): not flashy, just suffocating.

Duncan lost a point in round two for an eye poke. Post-fight, Allen said he’s done defending his spot and called out Dricus du Plessis by name.

My Take on Allen’s Next Fight

Give Allen the du Plessis fight. Four straight wins while the rest of the top five plays musical chairs with pullouts.

Duncan (15-3) stays in the top ten, but he has to prove he can stop a committed wrestler first.

Co-Main Event: Jai Herbert Edges Matheus Camilo

Jai Herbert beat Matheus Camilo by unanimous decision, 29-28 across the board, in a lightweight bout that never caught fire.

Sourcing note: MMA Junkie, MMA Weekly, and the official record all list Herbert as the winner; one recap outlet had it flipped.

Main Card Results and Highlights

Loopy Godinez Outworks Ketlen Souza

Loopy Godinez outworked Ketlen Souza to a workmanlike 29-28 decision at a 117-pound catchweight after Souza missed weight and forfeited 20% of her purse.

Andre Fili Knocks Out Kai Kamaka III

Andre Fili produced the night’s nastiest KO, a head kick that flattened Kai Kamaka III just 22 seconds into round two.

Fili waved off a follow-up punch when he realized Kamaka was already out. A $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus, well earned.

Otari Tanzilovi Stops Malcolm Wellmaker

Otari Tanzilovi announced himself at bantamweight with a head-kick TKO of Malcolm Wellmaker in round two.

It was the Georgian’s first UFC win, and it earned him another $100,000 bonus.

Preliminary Card Results and Highlights

Gerald Meerschaert Retires After Loss to Julius Walker

Gerald Meerschaert retired. After Julius Walker finished him with punches in round two, Meerschaert took the gloves off and told Michael Bisping he’s done.

Sixty pro fights, 37 wins, his name in the UFC record book. He walked away with his head up.

Sourcing note: One outlet listed a round-one stoppage; the official record says round two.

Francisco Prado Stops Ismael Bonfim

Francisco Prado desperately needed a win and got one, stopping Ismael Bonfim with punches in round one.

Bonfim missed weight by 7.5 pounds, the worst miss on the card, and forfeited 25% of his purse.

Niko Price Returns With a First-Round Finish

Niko Price came back from a brief retirement and got the sendoff he wanted: a first-round TKO of Leon Shahbazyan.

Brendson Ribeiro Submits Felipe Franco

Brendson Ribeiro snapped a four-fight skid with a first-round guillotine of Felipe Franco, snatching the neck when Franco shot in.

Ribeiro missed weight too, coming in at 208.5 pounds and forfeiting 20% of his purse after accepting the fight on two weeks’ notice. A career-saving win.

Allen Frye Jr. Upsets RJ Harris

Allen Frye Jr. pulled the upset of the night, knocking out the undefeated RJ Harris in round one.

Harris was the biggest favorite on the card. It was Frye’s first UFC win.

Alice Pereira Finishes Daria Zhelezniakova

Alice Pereira is 20 years old and scary. She mauled Daria Zhelezniakova for a round, opened a nasty cut with an elbow, and Zhelezniakova couldn’t continue.

Back-to-back first-round finishes to open her UFC career, plus a $100,000 bonus.

Ernesta Kareckaite and Melissa Gatto Fight to a Majority Draw

The opener ended in a majority draw: 29-27 Gatto, 28-28, 28-28.

Kareckaite lost a point in round one for grabbing the fence. Without it, she wins. Brutal.

My Take on the Prelims

The prelims carried this card: Meerschaert’s farewell, Ribeiro saving his job, Price’s comeback, and Pereira looking like a future problem at 135.

Brendan Allen should fight Dricus du Plessis next. Full stop.

The division needs a fresh contender, and Allen has done the work. Stop making this man defend his ranking.

Christian Leroy Duncan Needs to Rebuild

Christian Leroy Duncan drops to 15-3 and needs a striker to rebuild against.

Give him a standup fight and let him remind people why he was the hype train.

Alice Pereira Is a Prospect to Watch

Alice Pereira is the most interesting prospect on this card: 20 years old, finishing people, and showing real spite in her ground game.
